Fundraiser for softball player?s funeral brings in $812
Dayton--Kayte Marie Jones, the North Coast Athletic Association softball player who died at University Hospitals shortly after collapsing during a game on May 6, was laid to rest in Dayton on May 11.
Back in Cleveland, where Jones lived, a tribute party for Twist owner John Katsaros turned into a celebration of Jones? life and a fundraiser to help her family with the cost of the funeral.
A 50/50 raffle raised $206 for the family, and the winner, North Coast Volleyball vice-commissioner Doug Anderson, gave his $206 winnings back to the pot.
Another $300 in outright donations was coupled with a $100 payment from the league, bringing the total for Jones? family to $812.
Greg Rivera, the NCAA Softball commissioner, planned to contact her family to arrange handling the donation.
Those who wish to donate further to Jones? family to help with the costs of her services and other expenditures are asked to email league vice-commissioner Rob Gallagher at robg1205@aol.com.
